Alpine Run 2016

This year, for the 6th year running, Tai Calon Community Housing proudly sponsored the Cwm Carnival’s Alpine Run that took place on 6th August.

The Alpine Run is a 1.5-mile run where contestants run up and down the steep slope of the Cefn Manmoel mountain. The run has been an annual event since the early 1970's.

Why would contestants take part? Well, there is a prize of £90 for the winner of the senior race along with a trophy, whilst junior winners are rewarded with medals.

If anyone beats the overall record of 13mins 10secs set by Mike Rose in 1984, they can win a £200 bonus prize sponsored by A1 Tachograph. However, after the 2016 run, no one came close and Mike’s record still stands.

The winners were:

Senior Men

1st Tyran Bruten (18yrs) in 18mins:54secs

2nd Matthew Ellis (24yrs) in 18mins:57secs
