Christmas Appeal 2016
December 22, 2016
For the third year running, young people and families across Blaenau Gwent had a very special Christmas thanks again to the generous donations from businesses and partners working with Tai Calon Community Housing.
This year, in partnership with Blaenau Gwent Social Services and with the help of both Blaenau Gwent contributors and Tai Calon’s suppliers and partners, we raised over £13,000.
133 children will be receiving Christmas presents and, in addition, donations were raised which will benefit Hafan Cymru and the Trussell Trust Food Banks in Blaenau Gwent.
The donations have helped to pay for food, clothing, household items, presents, and gas and electricity tokens for local people who would otherwise have gone without.
A reception was held at Tai Calon’s head office to thank everyone for their donations and to show them some of the items, which had been purchased.
Joe Logan, Chief Executive of Tai Calon Community Housing, said, “On behalf of Tai Calon I would like to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone that has donated so generously this year.”
Amanda Davies from Blaenau Gwent Food Bank, said, “I’m overwhelmed, as I am every year, by the generosity.”
Ceri Bird, Integrated Services Manager for Children and Families at Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, said, “I can’t thank everyone enough for picking these toys, they have really been hand picked. On behalf of the children, a massive thank you, this has made this year a better year for everyone.”
Fredevery one of you for supporting our Christmas Appeal as well as those members of staff who have worked so hard behind the scenes, in collecting the donations and buying the gifts. ”
The gifts are being distributed by Blaenau Gwent Food Bank, Hafan Cymru and Blaenau Gwent Social Services.
