Football Festival in Ebbw Vale 2014
June 27, 2014
Blaenau Gwent will be going football crazy over the next few weeks as it gets into World Cup mood.
Getting the ball rolling is the North Gwent Referees Association which is holding its first football festival at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre on Saturday, 21 June.
More than fifty teams of youngsters aged between 8 and 15 will be battling it out in a series of matches throughout the day.
Gavin Townsend of the North Gwent Referees Association said: “We are delighted by the response we have had to the festival. We have had entries from teams from right across Gwent and every category is full. It will be a fantastic day of football with prizes awarded in each age group.”
The festival is being sponsored by Tai Calon Community Housing.
In fact staff from Tai Calon, which is Blaenau Gwent’s largest social housing landlord, will be there throughout the day taking photos and recording a DVD of the event.
Ross Watts, Head of Communities at Tai Calon said: “We are delighted to be able to support the football festival. Tai Calon is determined to make a difference to the lives of tenants and residents of Blaenau Gwent. The festival is one way we can do just that.”
Next month Tai Calon is holding Tai Fest, its fourth annual tenant funday. It will again be a free family day out and is being held at its office in Blaina.
Tai Fest on Saturday, 19 July will also have a World Cup. Keepmoat, which is one of Tai Calon’s contractors, is sponsoring the event for the second year running. A number of Tai Calon’s other partners have donated prizes as well.
Jen Barfoot, Chief Executive of Tai Calon said: “We are very grateful to Keepmoat for its support again this year. Thanks to Keepmoat and the other companies that work with us, Tai Fest 2014, guarantees to be an extra special day out for tenants.”
