New head of communities
August 15, 2013
His new job at Tai Calon will give him the chance to do just that.
The new Head of Communities at Tai Calon Community Housing is Ross Watts. Ross, who grew up and still lives in the area, is passionate about creating opportunities and vibrant neighbourhoods.
“I have joined Tai Calon at a time when the UK Government’s Welfare Reforms are being implemented. They will have a huge impact on the lives of the people of Blaenau Gwent and I am determined to do what I can to support them,” he said.
Ross Watts had been an employment advisor with Working Links before he moved onto managerial roles promoting employment and business opportunities. He has also been employed by Blaenau Gwent Council as a Regional Manager on the JobMatch project. He worked across the five local authorities in the Heads of the Valleys developing and implementing schemes aimed at helping people back into training and work.
At Tai Calon, Ross is in charge of the Customer Services Team, which is often the first point of contact for callers and visitors to Solis One. He is also responsible for the Community Investment and Involvement Team, which is all about putting tenants and their communities at the heart of the Tai Calon family. “I’m really excited to be joining Tai Calon. Customer Services is about making sure we get things right, first time. As an organisation, we are also heavily involved in local activities, organising fun days for children during the holidays, arranging training courses and supporting community groups in all the work they do. Together I believe we can make a real difference,” he added.
Jen Barfoot, chief executive of Tai Calon, said: “Team Tai Calon is developing every day. As Blaenau Gwent’s largest social landlord we are determined to lead the way in making the county a better place to live, work and play.
