Do you need funding for a community project?
Tai Calon wants to create places where people want to live and stay.
In keeping with the promises made in the Tenant Offer document (Formal Consultation), Tai Calon Community Housing has made an annual budget of £50,000 available for 'environmental improvements'.
This money is ring fenced to be spent on areas identified by the community for the community.
Administered by the Community Investment & Involvement team and the Tenant Compact group (tenants from around Blaenau Gwent), the fund is able to be accessed by groups in which tenants actively take part.
The kinds of projects that would be considered are those that will make a real difference to our tenants and their communities.
Projects such as:
- New/enhanced services to community facilities
- Environmental improvements; e.g. 'green space makeovers'
- Innovative and new approaches to local crime prevention and community safety initiatives
- Supporting the growth of social enterprise within communities
- Projects and events that bring the community together
- Feasibility studies which can or may link in to capital schemes
- Training and educational projects
What is it?
The Environmental Improvement Fund offers Tai Calon Community Housing tenants the opportunity to identify projects that will bring about lasting, sustainable improvements to local communities.
Who can apply?
The Environmental Improvement Fund is exclusively for tenants of Tai Calon Community Housing. This is inclusive of Community Groups in which residents actively participate.
How does it work?
Each year the fund will be available exclusively for tenants/community groups (as outlined above) of Tai Calon Community Housing. To access the fund an enquiry form must be completed and returned in the first instance.
Enquiry forms are available from our website, or you can make a request by post to the Community Involvement and Investment Team, Tai Calon Community Housing, Solis One, Rising Sun Industrial Estate, Blaina, NP13 3JW or contact a member of the Community Involvement and Investment Team on 0300 303 1717.
Upon receipt of a completed form a member of the Community Involvement and Investment Team will meet with you to discuss your proposal, and how they can support you in its development. Following the initial discussion, a full application will be completed with the assistance of our Community Involvement and Investment
Team, and submitted to Tai Calon's Tenant Compact Group for assessment. Should the bid prove unsuccessful the Community Involvement and Investment Team will provide constructive feedback and provide support and guidance to applicants for future bids.
How much funding is available for each project?
The Environmental Improvement Fund is specifically for small projects up to a maximum of £3000.
When will applications be submitted for approval?
Applications will be received in rounds at quarterly intervals throughout the financial year. Announcement of second round dates will be posted on Tai Calon's website and through our 'Heart of the Matter' tenant newsletter as soon as confirmed.
