Citizens Advice Cymru has revealed that 41% of people in Wales are worried they can’t afford their next fuel bill and more than one in two (56%) say energy bills will put a strain on their finances this year.

The figures come at the start of its Big Energy Week which aims to give people advice on how to save money on their heating and power costs.
Big Energy Week (16-21 January) is being supported by Tai Calon Community Housing which will be posting daily energy saving tips. The advice is also printed on postcards, available for tenants to collect from Reception at the Solis One offices
in Blaina, as well as from members of the Property Services team. It will also be given to new tenants.
Meanwhile, members of Green Earth, Tai Calon’s ground maintenance team, have been mulching green waste which tenants can use on their own gardens. Mulching has many benefits. It can provide nutrients for plants, lock in moisture, form a barrier against weeds and help to insulate the roots of vulnerable plants from the cold. Mulches can also be used for decorating the tops of pots and planters.
The green waste, is free, and can be collected from the Solis One offices. Green Earth’s Celfyn Chappell is photographed filling a bag with mulches.
