The ‘Beast From the East’ and storm Emma hit Blaenau Gwent with tremendous force at the beginning of March. It was the worst weather we have had in over 35 years!
Roads and conditions soon became treacherous; lots of areas became snowed in and inaccessible to teams trying to reach tenants. Our teams were digging out vehicles at 5am and some team members are walking to jobs where they could, carrying materials on their back!
Our teams attended to over 450 jobs during this time. We prioritised calls based on urgency and tenant need, some people had a longer wait than normal due to the hazardous conditions and your patience was very much appreciated.
We are very proud of our team and a big thank you to those who worked tirelessly in such demanding conditions from heating engineers, plumbers and electricians to staff taking calls. These staff members went above and beyond and some tenants were keen to give the team a ‘pat on the back’ on facebook:
Amazing effort from staff who should be home with their families. #localheros
Well done to all the tradesman that got through the snow to help tenants with no heating and hot water etc.
Well done to all the staff that continue to put themselves in danger by driving out in the bad weather.
