Our Board sets the strategic direction of the business.

Meet our Board

Our board is made up of six independent members, three members nominated by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and three tenant Board members.

Board members at Tai Calon Community Housing share responsibility for:

  • Setting strategic objectives and agreeing the plans to achieve those objectives
  • Approving the budget and accounts
  • Monitoring performance against agreed plans and budgets; and
  • Making sure that the affairs of the organisation are conducted in a proper manner (governance).

All of our Board Members are volunteers and are governed by the Rules of the organisation.

Dr Norma Barry MBA, FRSA, FCMI, MIOD - Chair

Norma Barry grew up in the South Wales mining valleys and went on to develop a career in the then Welsh Office and latterly the Welsh Government.

Colber is a professional interim, consultant and trouble-shooter. Originally from south-west Wales, he is a qualified post-graduate engineer and business director with over 33 years experience working with Government departments, agencies and arms-length bodies, local authorities, registered social landlords, private and third sector organisations.

Katherine Howells has worked in the social housing sector for 15 years in strategic and operational positions.

Mark Perry

Mark’s current role as Business Unit Manager for a national construction business heading up South Wales and the South West of England for a number of years, and having experience working within the housing sector makes him an ideal board member.

Vicki is a committed & enthusiastic individual who has lived in social housing in Tredegar for 7 years.

Bob Summers has lived in Ebbw Vale for 40 years. During that time he married and had three children.

Kelly has over twenty years Senior Management Strategic and Executive experience in Regeneration, Housing and Welfare to Work, within the Voluntary, Private and Public Sector working within the most deprived communities within Wales.

Claire Barley - Co-optee

Claire is Head of Strategy and Organisational Development at Newport City Homes. She was previously worked for the NHS in Wales and Welsh Government. In recognition of her work in Public Health Wales, she was awarded Honorary Membership of the Faculty of Public Health and appointed to the Board of the UK Public Health Register.

Claire is passionate about working in public services and housing. She is keen to promote the important role social that housing plays in our society
