External works to homes

External works will be focused on upgrading and maintaining homes to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard and increasing their energy efficiency as set out in our Corporate Plan.

We will continue to use sustainable, economical, and environmentally friendly materials.

Roofing

Last year we completed a roofing programme in Blaina, where 38 homes received new roofs, rainwater goods and porch roofs. 14 homes in the Gwaun Helyg area of Ebbw Vale benefited from new roofs too.

We are continuing improvements to roofs to homes in Waen Ebbw and Waen Fawr in Nantyglo.

We have also identified properties that need to be considered for roof replacement in St Georges Court, Tredegar.

External Wall Insulation

We have recently completed external wall insulation and roofing program for 40 flats in Brynawel in Brynmawr. We identified homes in Garnlydan, Hilltop, Rassau, Nantyglo and Brynmawr that would benefit from external Wall Insulation.

We continue to improve the energy efficiency of 53 homes in Rassau at Nant Melyn, Stonebridge Road, Phillips Close and Clydach Avenue. As well as 59 homes in Hilltop, Ebbw Vale. Work has recently been completed in St Davids Close, St Teilos Close and Brynteg Terrace.

We have identified that the walkways at Bronhafod in Brynmawr need improvement. This is something we will look to do over the next financial year. This is nearly complete.

Following a survey of St. Georges Court in Tredegar, we have discovered considerable fire safety work needed to upgrade the court to align with current legislation. We will be carrying out this as a matter of priority this year.

Doors

We will continue to upgrade front and back doors to homes across Blaenau Gwent and install fire doors.
