Estate Services

As an organisation,Tai Calon wants all of its tenants and residents to be proud of where they live, and to enjoy living in a clean and tidy environment. More importantly, we want to be sure that our neighbourhoods are safe and free of hazards.

To achieve this we carry out regular Neighbourhood 'walkabouts' where we carry out inspections of buildings, highways and estates to check that communal areas are being kept in good repair, and that residents are keeping their areas neat and tidy. These 'walkabouts' are carried out more frequently when an area is having particular problems. Our Great Neighbourhood walkabout programme gives tenants and residents the opportunity to raise any concerns they may have, and suggest any estate improvements that they feel will benefit their community. Our Neighbourhood team and other relevant staff, including partner organisations, regularly attend our 'walkabouts' to allow us to resolve any issues with our tenants and residents.

Our main objectives are to ensure that your neighbourhood is clean and safe, and is a place where you can be proud to live. Our Neighbourhood Team is working in your area to create ‘great neighbourhoods’ but can only achieve this with your help.

Look out for our Great Neighbourhood ’walkabouts’ where we carry out estates inspections with tenants and officers from Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and Communities First.

The ‘walkabouts’ focus on the green spaces, the parking areas, the buildings and the roads and footpaths on the estate. It is a great opportunity to look out for potential estate based projects such as ‘environmental improvement schemes’ and meet Tai Calon staff.

The walkabouts can only be successful if people from the estate get involved and tell us what they like or dislike about their area and what we can do to enhance it.

If you would like to take part in your local walkabout contact the Community Investment and Involvement Team on 0300 303 1717.
