There’s a renewed energy around St George’s Court and we’re excited to be moving forward together.

This is a fresh chapter where residence voices play a central role in shaping the future of your homes and community. We’re focused on clear communication, meaningful collaboration, and delivering the improvements that matter most to residences.

Planning Approval is In!

On 22nd May 2025, we received planning permission for the first phase of renovation works. This gives us the green light to move forward and make real improvements to your homes and your building.

Resident Panel Launched

We’ve set up a St George’s Court Resident Panel so that you can be directly involved in shaping what happens next.

This is about giving residence a real say in the changes that affect thiers homes.

🗓 First Meeting Held: 24 July 2025

📍At Tai Calon’s Office

Who’s Involved?

The panel includes residents from across St George’s Court as well as Tai Calon colleagues. Together, we’re working to move the project forward . You can read the full meeting notes here or scroll down for the highlights.

What Was Discussed at the First Panel Meeting?

Purpose of the Group

To work with a core group of around 10 residents to help shape the renovation plans. This group won’t replace the Residents’ Association — it’s specifically focused on the improvements to St George’s Court.

Meetings will take place every couple of months (and more often as work ramps up).

What’s in a Name?

Residents discussed coming up with a name for the group — “St George’s Court Warriors” was one suggestion. The group agreed: what matters most is that things actually happen.

Communication Plan

We know communication hasn’t been good enough. That’s changing.

We’re putting in place:

  • Regular resident newsletters
  • A dedicated webpage (this one!)
  • Drop-in surgeries around key project stages
  • A noticeboard (possibly above the defib machine near the church)
  • Phone and email support
  • A “Meet the Team” section in the next newsletter

We also heard your feedback that printed updates are important — not everyone uses the internet. We’ll make sure everyone stays in the loop.

What’s Planned for the Building?

We shared two types of proposals with the panel:

Core Works (Planning approved)

  • New roofs
  • New windows (including better ventilation)
  • Stairwell improvements
  • External wall insulation (EWI)

Enhanced Works (Subject to funding)

  • Private balconies
  • Better landscaping and lighting
  • Under-croft improvements
  • Renewable energy (solar panels, etc.)
  • Ground source heating
  • Refuse improvements

What Happens Next?

  • Window replacements: We aim to begin with a few groundfloor flats this year
  • Show flat: We’re hoping to create one to let residents see the finished look
  • Fair selection: Residents suggested using a raffle system to choose which homes are done first
  • Date for the next meeting Panel Meeting is: 18th September 2025

Got a Question or Concern?

If you’re still living with ongoing issues — especially around damp or disrepair — please don’t stay silent. We know some residence have been dealing with this for too long and we want to put it right.
