At the start of December as part of our strategy to create food growing gardens in our communities, 2 of 3 community gardens had their grand opening.

This project is funded by the Local Place for Nature funding through the National Lottery Heritage Fund and with help from our partners, Samkat, we’re creating 3 community gardens in total at Hilltop, Cefn Golau and Coedcae.

The first 2 community gardens had their official opening which included wreath making, some delicious food and cake!

The community garden at Hilltop is located near the Log Cabin where there will be plenty of opportunities for local people to enjoy growing vegetables, herbs and more.

The community garden at Cefn Golau also had their opening with another great wreath making session and ribbon cutting ceremony.

These gardens offer local residents a valuable chance to grow their own produce, easing the impact of the cost-of-living crisis while fostering stronger community connections. If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit and see for yourself how much amazing work has been put into these green spaces.

Thanks to all residents who came to enjoy the day, we look forward to the final community garden at Coedcae!
