Tai Calon supports the work of the Gwent Public Sector Board in seeking to create a fairer Gwent.

Recently the Gwent Public Sector Board, which includes our chief executive Howard Toplis, agreed that the Gwent area would work to become a Marmot region.

This is fundamentally about following the 8 principles designed by Professor Michael Marmot in seeking to build a fairer Gwent. Consequently, the counties of Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, and Newport will be adopting the 8 Marmot Principles.

However, for us at Tai Calon, this will re-enforce the importance of our decarbonisation work. Cold homes can have a seriously detrimental health effect, plus contribute to damp and black mould growth. Decarbonisation makes homes significantly more fuel efficient and thereby alleviates fuel poverty.

Consequently, improving the fuel efficiency of homes, and making them less reliant on fossil fuels, is key to building a fairer Gwent.
