We want everyone to feel safe and happy in their home, which is why we have a pet policy that supports responsible pet ownership.
What You Can Expect from Us
- We allow pets in most homes, including assistance dogs.
- We respond to requests around pet-related repairs (like fencing or gates) and home changes (like cat flaps or kennels).
Key Things You Need to Know
- Allowed Pets: You don’t need permission for most pets, but we encourage you to be responsible—microchipping and pet insurance are good practices.
- Not Allowed: Dangerous dogs (as per the Dangerous Dogs Act 2003), larger animals like horses or pigs, and exotic pets without the correct licenses.
- Breeding: Breeding animals may be considered a business. Please contact us if your pet has a litter.
Looking After Your Home
- Keep your home clean and free from pet damage. You could be charged for repairs.
- Clean up after your pets, indoors and out. Pet waste must be bagged and disposed of properly.
- Pets must be kept in a separate room during home visits or repairs.
- You cannot bury large pets at home or in shared areas—use cremation services instead.
If Things Go Wrong
- If pets cause problems or nuisance, it may be a breach of your occupation contract.
- We may require a pet or behaviour agreement if issues arise.
- In serious cases, we may ask you to remove your pet, but we’ll always explain why.
