Engaging With Us

We love hearing from our followers on social media! Whether you’re sharing comments, asking questions, or telling us your stories, we want to hear from you. To keep our online spaces safe and welcoming for everyone, please:

Avoid posting content that could be considered:

  • Abusive
  • Defamatory
  • Hateful or discriminatory
  • Racially offensive
  • Sexually explicit or offensive
  • Obscene
  • Unlawful

Please also avoid:

  • Using offensive language or swearing
  • Sharing spam, adverts or promotions for your own business or services
  • Posting personal details like your address or phone number in public posts
  • Sharing content, you don’t own the rights to
  • Pretending to be someone else

Our Facebook page uses an automatic filter to remove posts containing offensive or inappropriate language.

If posts breach our community guidelines, they may be reviewed by our internal teams. In serious cases, we may report content to the police.

Following & Engagement

If you follow us or like our pages, we won’t automatically follow or like you back.

This helps us manage our channels effectively and identify relevant accounts that support our work.

Being followed or liked by us does not mean we endorse that account or its content.

When We’re Online

Our team monitors our social media channels Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm.

We may occasionally post at weekends or outside these hours. Please note that platform outages may impact availability, and we are not responsible for any service interruptions.

Replies and Messages

We aim to respond to appropriate questions and messages where we can, but we may not be able to reply to everyone or respond immediately.

We will not respond to messages that include:

  • Abusive or threatening language
  • Discriminatory, racist, sexist, or homophobic content
  • Sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable remarks

Post Moderation

We value open conversation and don’t generally remove public comments.

However, if posts break the rules above, we may remove them and block accounts without prior notice.

Making a Complaint

Social media isn’t the right place to make a formal complaint.

To make a complaint, please follow our official complaints process.

Reporting Crime

Please don’t use our social media channels to report crimes or share information about criminal activity.

For crime reporting:

  • Call 999 in an emergency
  • Call 101 for non-emergencies
  • Contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
