We have recently updated our policy on how we decide who gets a home to make it more transparent, fairer, and easier to understand. It explains how we allocate homes, how the Blaenau Gwent banding system works, and the support available when moving in or out. Read the policy here.
How We Allocate Homes
We work closely with Blaenau Gwent Council through the Common Housing Register: learn more here.
This means:
- Everyone applies through the same shared system.
- The Council places people into bands based on their housing need.
- Homes are allocated to those with the highest need first.
Understanding Housing Bands
The banding system makes sure homes go to those who need them most

Moving In – Support You Can Count On
Our lettings team is here to make your move smooth and stress-free:
- Helping you understand your new home and tenancy.
- Identifying any support needs early.
- Explaining how to report repairs, get help, and access services.
- Linking with partners if extra support is required.
We want everyone to start their new home feeling confident, safe, and supported.
Moving Out – Leaving Made Simple
Leaving your home should be straightforward and supported. Our Lettings Team:
- Will explain what you need to do before leaving.
- Completes checks in a friendly, consistent way.
- Prepares homes quickly for new residents.
A smooth ending helps us get homes ready for the next people who need them.
Why This Matters
These updates mean:
- Greater fairness and transparency
- Clearer guidance for customers and partners
- Better support for vulnerable people
- Improved outcomes for everyone
